The factory behind the club

A sub-brand is easy to invent. This one has a building, a floor, and a shift on it. Here is who we are, where we are, and how to start a conversation with a person.

A production service by Apprintable

The Apprintable story

Start a Mailing Club is Apprintable. Not a partner, not a marketplace pointing elsewhere: the same company, the same floor, the same people. Apprintable is a trade printer in Wembley, London, and most of what it prints is somebody else’s deadline.

The scale is ordinary factory scale: 100+ orders a day for 2,700+ customers. We say the numbers because they are the reason to trust a new name. A printer that handles that volume has already met every way a job can go wrong, and has systems rather than good intentions.

Mailing clubs fit this floor properly. A club is recurring, considered craft work on a fixed monthly rhythm: spec’d once, then repeated faithfully, with the same colour and the same stocks from issue 1 to issue 100. That is exactly the kind of work a production floor is built for, and it is the opposite of the scramble that a one-off job always is.

So why a separate name at all? Because a trade printer’s website talks about print runs, and a club creator is thinking about subscribers, envelopes, postage weight and whether next month lands on time. Start a Mailing Club exists so that conversation happens in your language, with a real factory behind it rather than a middleman with a supplier list.

The people

Your club passes through the same hands every month. Press operators, who run your issues and hold the colour steady against your reference sample, and the finishing team, who trim, fold, crease and bind: the work that decides whether a zine opens properly. And a named contact who owns your club’s rhythm: one person who knows your spec, your artwork deadline and your dispatch date, so you are never explaining your club from scratch to whoever picked up the email.

We are not going to put invented names and stock photographs on this page. Real portraits and proper introductions are planned, and they will appear here once the photography is done. Until then, the honest version is an invitation: come to Wembley and meet them on shift.

Where we are

One address, and it is the one your work is made at.

Apprintable LimitedUnit 6 Montague Works, 90 Queensbury Road, Wembley, London HA0 1QGCompany no. 09554876

Come and see it, about an hour, unhurried, with presses running and a samples table to put paper in your hands.

Talk to us about your club

Tell us about your club, or the club you are planning: roughly how many members you have or expect, and what is hard right now. That is enough for a useful first reply.

No pitch comes back. Usually a question or two, and an honest view of what your first run would involve. If you would rather write your own email, we are at [email protected].
